Contractor. Developing next-generation LabVIEW-based applications for the acquisition and analysis of rocket propellant properties.

Feb 00 - August 01. E-piphany.com. San Mateo, CA

Project Manager, Application Developer. Develop web-based applications for customer relationship management (CRM). Managed the chat integration project with the main call-center application. Other projects include: integration between Sales and Service applications using VB and BML, integration between real-time personalization and service application, and new sales application forecasting features. Technologies used: jscript, Visual Basic, HTML, SQL, XML, other proprietary tools.

Project Management: Managed three major projects, each involving the integration of different technologies acquired through mergers or acquisitions.  Each project was several months in duration and consisted of team members from various departments of the company, including: engineering (5 – 15 people), marketing & sales, documentation, quality assurance, training, and support.  I used a combination of MS Project, Visio, and all MS Office applications [Excel, Word, Powerpoint] to manage the project.  I developed an internal website to better communicate the status of the projects and to maintain important documents related to the projects.  I initiated or participated in design and review meetings (kickoffs, weekly, and milestones), presenting as needed - demonstrations of project deliverables, training to various departments on the deliverables, and communicating the needs of the project to senior management, sponsors, and other departments.  I was involved in all facets of the change management process, from finding/understanding possible problems to approving/integrating the changes/resolutions. I wrote and kept up-to-date cookbooks [technical information regarding the product, including the operation, maintenance, and possible issues with the product] that were used by documentation, marketing, sales, and training as the primer for their documents.  I was also responsible for presenting the final product to the sales engineers at major company hubs.

Jul 98 - Jan 00. Space Systems/Loral (Palo Alto, CA)

Project Manager, Software Engineer. 1. Deployment products torque margin testing. Created LabVIEW application to acquire torque and angle data of solar array deployment mechanisms for purposes of testing and analysis. 2. Massive data acquisition and review/analysis system. LabVIEW program to capture 50+ channels at 1kHz continuously over 2 weeks -- data recorded exceed 1GB/day. 3. Motor driver controller software. LabVIEW program to output TTL commands to motor drivers to create custom stepping profiles. 4. Solar cell degradation analysis software. Visual Basic 6 program to compute cell degradation, original program was FORTRAN based.  5. Managed a project to upgrade/design and manufacture BTEs (Bench Top Equipment).

Project Management:  BTE upgrade project. The purpose of this project is to re-design/upgrade a existing in-house testing equipment and to procure for the manufacturing of the newly designed device.  As the project lead, I created estimates for cost, schedule, and resources needed.  The team consisted of a several CB (circuit board) designers, in-house assemblers and testers, technicians (the end-users of the device), and mechanical/electrical engineers.  I used Excel to maintain schedule and costs, conducted weekly progress meetings with key team members, presented updates to management, and helped to train end-users of the equipment.

Jan 98 - Jul 98. Cal-Bay Systems, Inc. (San Rafael, CA)

Senior Project Engineer. Bay Model Project. Used LabVIEW, VBScript, SQL, ActiveX, and HTML to acquire velocity, salinity, water-level, etc. data from over a hundred sensors, store the data in a MS Access database and allow programmable display of the data using MS Internet Explorer 4.0. Berkeley Nucleonics Pulse Generator Drivers. Used LabWindows CVI and LabVIEW to develop a set of drivers for a pulse generator. Functions included initialization of device, trigger and timing settings, pulse levels, etc. Hexcel Autoclave Control Using LabVIEW, OLE, ActiveX, and SQL to automate the composites curing process. Functions include designing unique curing steps, activation of alarms and automatic paging to the operator, printing of automatic and custom reports, and complete hardware control of the autoclave - including heaters for temperature control, and vacuum pumps and nitrogen lines for pressure control.

Project Management:  I managed small projects ranging from 40 man-hours to several months in duration.  I was responsible for estimating the time, costs, and other needed resources, as well as defining the scope of the project given client requirements.  During the execution phase of the project, I lead the engineering team with design/review meetings, held conference calls with clients (all were off-site), and used Excel and other tools to track project progress.
