August 12, 2001: Portolla Redwoods State ParK

This was a relatively easy hike through a mixture of shades and open space in Portolla Redwoods State Park.  9 people went on this hike, including first-timer Helen who did great!  Like the little brother of Big Basin State Park, the trails in this park winds through quite a bit of redwoods.  As you can see from the pictures, the trails also meander through open space and fruit orchards.  The weather was perfect yet again as we hiked about 6.5 miles with about 500 ft of elevations changes.   (More picture will be posted laster on --paul)

Taking a break!  Thu, Thai, Arthur, Nadine, Helen, Denise, Khanh, and Chris.

Thai picking pears, and oh yes, climbing the pear tree!

Ha! You didn't think I was pass up the chance to climb a redwood, did you?  -paul

Returning to the parking lot.

Feasting on a whole lotta food, in picnic area of the park.  Bring BBQ next time!
