On Sunday, January 6, the first hike of 2002 began at the Purisima Creek parking lot.  This is the third time we have hiked Purisima, the previous two times being in July and September of 2001.  8 hikers showed up despite the dark sky and possible rain.  Fortunately, the weather held and actually became clearer throughout the hike.  Two new hikers joined us this time - Lisa and Dao - welcome!  We took a different set of trails this time, to extend the distance a bit.  So, instead of the usual 7 mile loop, we hiked about 8.8 miles this time, spending more time along Purisima Creek.  The trails were muddy but easily navigable, and the visibility when we reached higher elevations (the hike had an elevation gain of 1,300 ft) was better than any of the previous hikes here.  We could see the beaches of Half Moon Bay and even a few miles out into the Pacific.  What a treat!  With Jenny's invitation, we had lunch/dinner at her place - thanks Jenny!  Enjoy the pictures and be sure to join us on our next hike.
